Trauma-Informed Care Seminars

The following announcement comes to us via Tom Pierce at DCF’s Office on Homelessness:

The Department of Children and Families, in cooperation with the Florida Peer Network, is proud to be hosting Building Capacity for Trauma-Informed Systems of Care, six regional seminars throughout the state.

These seminars will be held in July and August 2010. To register and for more information visit www.floridapeernetwork.org/tic.

There is no charge for the seminar!
These seminars will focus on:

  • The impact of trauma in the lives of the people served in the mental health system.
  • What it means to provide trauma-informed care.
  • Practical steps you can take to transform the mental health system.

The seminars are for all stakeholders in the mental health/substance abuse system, including:

  • Consumers and family members
  • Executive and clinical leadership of mental health/substance abuse
  • provider agencies
  • Mental health/substance abuse professionals
  • Child Welfare agencies
  • Criminal Justice agencies
  • Advocates
  • Law enforcement officers
  • Judges, state attorneys, public defenders, and judicial system staff
  • State agencies
  • Others interested

These seminars are made possible by a Transformation Transfer Initiative (TTI Grant) from the National Association of State Mental Health Program
Directors (NASMHPD).
